Dynamo Kyiv – Fenerbahce
Dynamo Kyiv hosts Fenerbahce in a first leg from the second qualifying round of the Champions League. Because of the war between Russia and Ukraine, this game will be played in the Polish city of Lodz. Let’s preview it in our winning soccer tips.
Managed by the legendary Mircea Lucescu, Dynamo must find a way to forget what’s happening in Ukraine right now and switch to soccer. The club won the last edition of the Ukrainian Premier League, but the Russian invasion in the country seriously broke the dynamic of all the teams there. This gives Dynamo’s opponents some serious advantage although the Kyiv giants played some friendly games in order to prepare. Playing in Poland instead at home also cripples Lucescu’s team here.
Because of the war, Dynamo were left by all of their foreign players. This means the Ukrainian club was seriously weakened after the Russian invasion. The head coach Lucescu decided to stay, though – he deserves respect for that.
Dynamo Kyiv played their last friendly just few days ago. They faced the Belgian side Antwerp, but suffered a 1-2 defeat.
One of Dynamo’s best players remains the Ukrainian international Viktor Tsygankov. The 24-years old is one of the current stars of Ukrainian soccer. This could be one of his last games for the club if gets transferred during the summer.
Fenerbahce are eager to reach the Champions League group stage again. The club showed ambition after the end of the season with appointing the legendary Portuguese manager Jorge Jesus. The 67-years old head coach is now Fenerbahce’s most significant hope of returning at the top of Turkish soccer. And playing again in the Champions League, of course.
Fenerbahce terminated Mesut Ozil’s contract, but already signed some new players on the market. The Turkish giants brought in the Uruguayan winger Diego Rossi after a successful loan spell while the Norwegian striker Joshua King arrived from England as a free agent. One of the most interesting signing was the young Brazilian Lincoln who was signed after some excellent performances in Portugal. His compatriot Willian Arao will strengthen the holding midfielder position after arriving from one of the biggest clubs in Brazil – Flamengo.
Emre Mor is another exciting signing Fenerbahce’s fans are looking forward to. With experience in top leagues such as the Bundesliga and La Liga, Mor is one of the best Turkish talents in the last five or six years. It’d be very interesting to see what the head coach Jorge Jesus could do with him at the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium.
